The Quaker Foundation is a non-profit organization which started in 1993 with the purpose of accepting and expending funds to enhance the educational opportunities for New Philadelphia Schools students both during their time in the New Philadelphia Schools and by promoting post-secondary education opportunities through scholarships for college, vocational and technical schools. Funds have been raised by generous donations during their lifetimes by alumni and friends of the New Philadelphia School System and gifts and bequests upon death. Families of friends of the school system are now often suggesting gifts as a way to memorialize their recently deceased family member. Starting in 2005 the Quaker Foundation, in cooperation with the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education, awarded Michael Briggs Memorial scholarships which are funded by the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education.
