Scholarship Program

The Quaker Foundation is a non-profit organization which started in 1993 with the purpose of accepting and expending funds to enhance the educational opportunities for New Philadelphia Schools students both during their time in the New Philadelphia Schools and by promoting post-secondary education opportunities through scholarships for college, vocational and technical schools. Funds have been raised by generous donations during their lifetimes by alumni and friends of the New Philadelphia School System and gifts and bequests upon death. Families of friends of the school system are now often suggesting gifts as a way to memorialize their recently deceased family member. Starting in 2005 the Quaker Foundation, in cooperation with the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education has awarded Michael Briggs Memorial scholarships which are funded by the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education.

The Quaker Foundation annually awards several scholarships for outstanding members of the NPHS senior class who will be furthering their education on a full-time basis. Excepting academic scholarships, there is no minimum GPA required in order to apply. The scholarships are as follows:

Academic Scholarships

For students with a cumulative GPA after seven semesters of at least 3.5 (using the NPHS weighted scale) to be awarded by using a standard that combines GPA and college entrance exam results.

Leadership Scholarships

For students who have exceptional leadership qualities.

  • Vocational/Technical Scholarships

    Additional Scholarships

Applications may be picked up in the high school guidance office in late January of each year. Completed applications are typically due and must be turned in to Mrs. Jill Westbrook by the end of February.

Scholarship winners are announced at the annual Quaker Foundation Recognition Banquet held in May.
