Quaker Foundation Scholarships Winners

The New Philadelphia City Schools Quaker Foundation in conjunction with the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education awarded 36 scholarships. One of the goals of the Quaker Foundation is to provide scholarships to deserving students and this year’s recipients share in $71,500 worth of scholarship money.

Scholarship recipients:

Ronald Ross III, son of Ronald Jr. and Barbara Ross, is the recipient of a Michael Briggs Memorial Four-Year Renewable Academic Scholarship for $2500 each year. Ronald plans to attend Wittenberg University and pursue a career in Neuropsychology.

Aaron Victor, son of Robert and Lois Victor, is the recipient of a Michael Briggs Memorial Four-Year Renewable Academic Scholarship for $2500 each year. Aaron plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and pursue a career in Medicine.

Claire Tolan, daughter of Peter and Kathy Tolan, is the recipient of an Academic Scholarship for $3000. Claire plans to attend The University of Chicago but she is undecided on her career plans.

Aaron Sponseller, son of Nick and Peggy Sponseller, is the recipient of an Academic Scholarship for $2500. Aaron plans to attend The United States Naval Academy and pursue a career in Electrical Engineering.

Toby Arden, daughter of Linda L. Arden, is the recipient of a Curtis W. Miller Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2500. Toby plans to attend Walsh University and pursue a career in Nursing.

Curtis Urban, son of Bob and Cheryl Urban, is the recipient of a Curtis W. Miller Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2500. Curtis plans to attend Mt. Union College and pursue a career in Medicine.

Whitney Moore, daughter of Dr. Chuck and Stephanie Moore, is the recipient of an Academic Scholarship for $2000. Whitney plans to attend The University of Akron and pursue a career in Diet and Nutrition.

David Hoffman, son of Barbara Burgess and Michael Hoffman, is the recipient of a Curtis W. Miller Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2000. David plans to attend North Carolina State University and pursue a career in Civil Engineering.

Emily Frey, daughter of Brenda Luthy, is the recipient of a Michael Briggs Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2000. Emily plans to attend Ohio Northern University and pursue a career in Psychology.

Bryan Greenwood, son of David and Julie Greenwood, is the recipient of an Academic Scholarship for $1500. Bryan plans to attend The University of Toledo and pursue a career in Pharmacy.

Aaron Gundy, son of David and Beth Gundy, is the recipient of the Dr. Norman Browning and Margaret Davidson Browning Academic Scholarship for $1500. Aaron plans to attend the University of Akron and pursue a career in Engineering.

Christian Lautenschleger, son of Rory and Diane Lautenschleger, is the recipient of the Pepsi Americas Academic Scholarship for $1500. Christian plans to attend The Ohio State University and pursue a career as an Officer in the United State Air Force.

Laura Behrendt, daughter of Mark and Carolyn Behrendt, is the recipient of a Leadership Scholarship for $3000. Laura plans to attend Centre College and pursue a career in Biological Science and Research.

Liza Bailey, daughter of Steve and Marcy Bailey, is the recipient of a Leadership Scholarship for $2500. Liza plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and pursue a career in Psychology.

Kristin McKnight, daughter of Tim and Karen McKnight, is the recipient of a Leadership Scholarship for $2,000. Kristin plans to attend Brigham Young University Idaho and pursue a career in Music Education.

Katelyn Ballard, daughter of Paul and Helen Ballard, is the recipient of the Kay Stratton Leadership Scholarship for $2000. Katelyn plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering.

Leslie Schmidt, daughter of John and Holly Schmidt, is the recipient of the Bob Ed Harris Memorial Leadership Scholarship for $1500. Leslie plans to attend West Liberty State College and pursue a career in Dental Hygiene.

Kersha Deibel Trotter, daughter of Teri Deibel Logan and Carson Trotter, is the recipient of the Michael Briggs Memorial Leadership Scholarship for $1500. Kersha plans to attend The University of Cincinnati and pursue a career in Social Work.

Megan Rest, daughter of Chuck and Lisa Rest, is the recipient of a Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Megan plans to attend Walsh University and pursue a career in Nursing.

Nate Kamban, son of Randy and Irene Kamban, is the recipient of the Donald R. and Shirley A. Kimmel Wagner Family Scholarship for $1000. Nate has not decided where he will attend college but he plans to pursue a career in International Studies.

Nikki Warner, daughter of Don and Sally Warner, is the recipient of the Peggy and John Stratton Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Nikki plans to attend The University of Akron and pursue a career in Marketing.

Kevin Gardner, son of Carey and Kathy Gardner, is the recipient of the John and Ann K. Marsh Family Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Kevin plans to attend The Ohio State University and pursue a career in International Business.

Max Jensen, son of K. C. and Beth Jensen, is the recipient of the Jessica Keiser Memorial Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Max plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and pursue a career in Anthropology.

Justin Merryman, son of Marty and Diane Merryman, is the recipient of the Jim Thompson Memorial Basketball Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Justin plans to attend Ashland University and pursue a career in Business.

Elizabeth Thornton, daughter of Eric and Christina Thornton, is the recipient of the Douglas Canfield / Quaker Foundation Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Elizabeth plans to attend Ohio University and pursue a career in Physical Therapy.

Megan Sauser, daughter of Todd and Paula Sauser, is the recipient of the Herman/Dalpiaz Memorial / Quaker Foundation Scholarship for $1000. Megan plans to attend Kent State University-Main Campus and pursue a career in Education.

Neal Cropper, son of Chip and Sharon Cropper, is the recipient of the Hodder/Williams Memorial / Quaker Foundation Scholarship for $1000. Neal plans to attend Bowling Green State University and pursue a career in Secondary Education - Life Sciences.

Jonathan Lischak, son of John and Darlene Lischak, is the recipient of the Chip Graham Memorial Scholarship for $1000. Jonathan plans to attend Youngstown State and pursue a career in Music Education.

Josalyn Ruefly, daughter of John Ruefly and Donna Davidson, is the recipient of the Mindy Alpeter Memorial / Quaker Foundation Scholarship for $1000. Josalyn plans to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and pursue a career in Graphic Design.

Annie Rufener, daughter of Phil and Kathy Rufener, is the recipient of the McInturf Scholarship for $1000. Annie plans to attend Malone College and pursue a career in Teaching English as a Second Language.

John Martini, son of Tim and Marie Martini, is the recipient of the Marsh Excellence in Fine Arts Scholarship for $1000. John plans to attend The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and pursue a career in Media Arts and Animation.

Britney Stutzman, daughter of Alan and Kim Stutzman, is the recipient of the Michael Briggs Memorial Vocational Scholarship for $1500. Britney plans to attend Kent State University and pursue a career in Legal Assistant Technology.

Joshua Lautzenheiser, son of Dan and Lorrie Lautzenheiser, is the recipient of the Peggy and John Stratton Vocational/Technical Scholarship for $1000. Joshua plans to attend The Ohio State Universtiy Agricultural Technical Institute and pursue a career in Farming.

Sarah Mutti, daughter of Glenn and Carol Mutti, is the recipient of a VFW Scholarship for $1000. Sarah plans to attend Muskingum College but she is undecided on her career plans.

Sara Boone, daughter of Gene and Cheri Boone and Julie and Jeff Rose, is the recipient of a VFW Scholarship for $1000. Sara plans to attend The Ohio State University and pursue a career in Respiratory Therapy.

Kaleigh Bantum, daughter of John and Lori Bantum, is the recipient of a VFW Scholarship for $1000. Kaleigh plans to attend Ohio University and pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
