The New Philadelphia City Schools Quaker Foundation in conjunction with the New Philadelphia City Schools Board of Education awarded 46 scholarships. One of the goals of the Quaker Foundation is to provide scholarships to deserving students and this year’s recipients share in $84,000 worth of scholarship money.
Scholarship recipients:
Monica Ross, daughter of Ron and Barb Ross of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Michael Briggs Memorial Four-Year Renewable Academic Scholarship for $2500. Monica plans to attend Ohio State University and pursue a career in clinical psychologist, specializing in sleep medicine.
Andrew Stephon, son of Julie Stephon of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Michael Briggs Memorial Four-Year Renewable Academic Scholarship for $2500. Andrew plans to attend Ohio Northern University and pursue a career in computer engineering.
Sara Daley, daughter of David and Peggy Daley of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Quaker Foundation Academic Scholarship for $3000. Sara plans to attend Mount Union College and pursue a career in middle childhood education/administration.
Anne Worth, daughter of David and Paula Worth of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Dr. Bruce and Nancy Jackson Academic Scholarship for $3000. Anne plans to attend Ohio Wesleyan University and is undecided on her career.
Jacob Fox, son of Bob and Linda Fox of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Curtis W. Miller Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2500. Jacob plans to attend Ohio Northern University and pursue a career in pharmacy.
Allison Heck, daughter of Dave and Patty Heck of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of Curtis W. Miller Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2500. Allison plans to attend Ohio State University and pursue a career in law.
James Black, son of Kim Black of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Curtis W. Miller Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2000. James plans to attend Ohio State University and is undecided on his career.
Trey Overholt, son of John and Dana Overholt of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Michael Briggs Memorial Academic Scholarship for $2000. Trey plans to attend Messiah College and pursue a career in accounting.
Ben Roth, son of Steve and Tina Roth of Dover, is the recipient of a Quaker Foundation Academic Scholarship for $2000. Ben plans to attend Walsh University and is undecided on his career.
Robert Cleary II, son of Robert and Carole Cleary of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Quaker Foundation Academic Scholarship for $1500. Robert plans to attend Kent State Tuscarawas and is undecided on his career.
Ian Fleming, son of Patty and Mike Taylor of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Dr. Norman Browning and Margaret Davidson Browning Academic Scholarship for $1500. Ian plans to attend Miami University and pursue a career in microbiology.
Andy Walker, son of Barry and Vicki Walker of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Adventure Harley-Davidson Academic Scholarship for $1000. Andy plans to attend Wright State University and pursue a career in aero space engineering.
Emily Ankney, daughter of Deb Ankney of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Pepsi Americas Academic Scholarship for $1000. Emily plans to attend The University of Akron - Honors College and pursue a career as an attorney.
Ben Ballard, son of Paul and Helen Ballard of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Quaker Foundation Leadership Scholarship for $3000. Ben plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and pursue a career in computer engineering.
Laura Schupbach, daughter of Dyan Schupbach and Sam Hitchcock of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Quaker Foundation Leadership Scholarship for $2500. Laura plans to attend Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music and pursue a career in music education.
Megan Rupe, daughter of Neil and Barbara Rupe of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Chester D. Stocker Memorial Leadership (Rea & Associates, Inc.) Scholarship for $2500. Megan plans to attend Youngstown State University and pursue a career in nursing.
Molly Weisgarber, daughter of Bill and Jody Weisgarber of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Quaker Foundation Leadership Scholarship for $2000. Molly plans to attend Ashland University and pursue a career in early childhood education and as an early childhood intervention specialist.
Haley Gasser, daughter of Matt and Cindy Gasser of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Kay Stratton Leadership Scholarship for $2000. Haley plans to attend Ohio State University and pursue a career in physical therapy.
Maggie Rentsch, daughter of Tim and Kathy Rentsch of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Michael Briggs Memorial Leadership Scholarship for $1500. Maggie plans to attend Ohio University and pursue a career in school counseling.
Alex Meiser, son of Tim and Mary Meiser of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Bob Ed Harris Memorial Leadership Scholarship for $1500. Alex plans to attend The University of Toledo and pursue a career in pharmacy.
Darcie Bichsel, daughter of Bill and Dru Bichsel of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Douglas Canfield / Quaker Foundation Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Darcie plans to attend Ohio State University and is undecided on her career.
Khlea Sumani, daughter of Anita Sumani of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Jessica Keiser Memorial Leadership Scholarship for $1000. Khlea plans to attend Ohio State University and pursue a career in biochemistry.

Jodie Rosenberry, daughter of Laurie Rosenberry of Stone Creek and the late David Rosenberry, is the recipient of the Donald R. and Shirley A. Kimmel Wagner Family Scholarship for $1000. Jodie plans to attend The University of Akron and pursue a career in zoology.

Adam Patterson, son of Larry and Denise Patterson of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Kirk Manini Memorial Scholarship for $1000. Adam plans to attend Kent State University and pursue a career in nursing.

Rachael Korns, daughter of Dave and Sally Korns of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the Marsh Excellence in Fine Arts Scholarship for $1000. Rachael plans to attend Baldwin Wallace College and pursue a career in early childhood education or musical theatre and dance.
David Russell, son of Don and Cheryl Russell of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of the McInturf Scholarship for $1000. David plans to attend Malone College and pursue a career as an airline pilot.
Rachel Walters, daughter of Pamela Androsky of New Philadelphia, is the recipient of a Thelma Schwartz Shel Mar Scholarship for $1000. Rachel plans to attend Kent State Tuscarawas and pursue a career in visual journalism.
